Collaborative Assemblage Totem Sculptures

3D Design classes from the School of Visual Arts and Design incorporated everyday ready-made and found objects into six-foot tall totem compositions.

A Celebration of Arts, Storytelling and Technology

Project Spotlight’s Play It By Ear

“Play it by Ear” is a full-length play by UCF graduate student Daniel Romano about a group of 20-somethings trying to figure out how life works while living in close proximity in NYC. The show explores the ideas of friendship, heartbreak, love, and—above all else—the ever-present struggle between passion and responsibility.

Directed by Theatre UCF faculty member Mark Brotherton, “The Refugee Plays” is a series of short plays that explore the experiences of refugees and undocumented immigrants in the United States, spotlighting the cultural, legal and socio-economic hardships and prejudices confronted by this community daily.

Journey to Justice (Singing the Journey)

The UCF Women’s Chorus, Men’s Ensemble, University Chorus, and Chamber Singers will treat guests to a musical performance with a message. The program addresses social inequalities, prejudice, and discrimination, but also hopefulness and the potential for change.

The Assassination of the American Dream
An Immersive Theatre Experience

An immersive theatrical collage drawing on contemporary themes, texts, mixed media, folk songs, and court transcripts, investigating how the issues surrounding the #MeToo movement, immigration, and gun violence push us to interrogate what it truly means to be American.

The  UCF Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band perform a concert piece specially commissioned for UCF called Zodiac Concerto including special guests William Caballero, horn, and Roger Oyster, euphonium.

To raise awareness of caregiving in its various forms for Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other conditions, Orlando Shakespeare Theater presents a performance of Blackberry Winter by Steve Yockey with a post-show talkback with the playwright, caregivers, and performers.

15th Annual Writes of Spring: Mystic Glen

Central Florida K-12 students were given the writing prompt, “From My Perspective: Let Me Tell You About…” The best submissions have been transformed into Mystic Glen, a collaboration between Theatre UCF graduate students and the Orlando REP. The Writes of Spring contest supports literacy, critical thinking, and creative expression by transforming student words into a fully produced show.
UCF Rising! Applied Bystander Prevention Workshop

Developed in partnership with UCF Victim Services and the School of Performing Arts, this bystander prevention workshop combines theatrical skills with victim advocacy and prevention training. Selections from Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues and One Billing Rising will precede the workshop.
Choral Invitational Concert

UCF Choral faculty, UCF Music Education and UCF Choral students host 400+ students from eight school choral programs from Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties in a day of choir workshops led by nationally known clinician, Dr. Kristina Caswell-MacMullen from Ohio State University. There will be a final concert performance open to the public.
Just Like Us
Staged Reading and Talkback

The Orlando REP presents a staged reading of Just Like Us by Karen Zacarias, inspired by the nonfiction book by Helen Thorpe. This documentary-style play follows four Latina teenage girls in Denver—two of whom are documented and two of whom are not—through young adulthood.

Percussion Festival Concert

A day of workshops and performances culminates in a celebration featuring guest artist Anders Åstrand and the UCF Percussion Ensemble.
UCF Woodwind Ensembles

The UCF Flute Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, Clarinet Choir, and Woodwind Quintet come together for an evening of woodwind chamber music, featuring work from a local composer.

Following the Puccini opera, the singers continue the story with American composer Michael Ching's opera Buoso's Ghost.
